17 Days

One of the most popular trekking destinations among adventure enthusiasts, Makalu Base Camp offers a unique opportunity to explore both the natural and cultural attractions of the High Himalaya. The trekking route of Makalu Base Camp passes through high altitude terrains, snow-capped mountains, and ethnic Himalayan lifestyle. For those who are looking for an exceptional opportunity with a less beaten trekking trail, the Makalu Base Camp trek must be on their bucket list.

Your journey starts from Kathmandu, where our trekking instructors and guides check the trekking gear, clothing, and brief about the trip. During your stay in Kathmandu, we offer a city tour, visiting UNESCO World Heritage sites. The actual trekking on foot starts from Chichlia, which is a 2-3 hour drive from Tumlingtar, after a scenic 1-hour flight from KTM. The lower region of the trail is renowned for its lushness with verdant rhododendron forests; rhododendron is the national flower of Nepal. The upper region of the trail comprises polished granite cliffs capped by hanging glaciers and overflowing with waterfalls.

As the trekking trail is situated in the Makalu Barun National Park, it is rich in flora and fauna. During the trekking time, you may encounter some of the majestic creatures like Red Panda, Musk Deer, Himalayan Ghoral, Himalayan Peasant, and Picook, etc. The Makalu Base Camp trek reaches a maximum altitude of approximately 5,500 meters (18,045 feet). So, altitude sickness may be a major challenge for inexperienced trekkers. However, our itinerary allows enough time for acclimatization. We offer customized packages as well as flexibility in changing the itinerary. The 20-22 day-long Makalu Base Camp trek is an ideal choice for avid trekkers and nature enthusiasts who avoid crowds.

Local hotels and tea houses serve accommodation and provide healthy and hygienic meals. Spring and autumn are two main seasons for Joining Makalu Base Camp Trek. Our professional guides and local porters makes your journey meaningful.
