INTRODUCTION

Dolpo region is situated in the upper part of the Dolpa district in the western Nepal between the Tibetan plateau and the Dhaulagiri range and is bordered by China in the north. The Upper Dolpo was forbidden for trekking and touring until 1989, but on today’s date it is one of the popular trekking destinations where wild habitats like Oak and Rhododendrons are found. Initially, the trek begins from Juphal which became popular by the book ‘The Snow Leopard’ written by Peter Mathiessen. Eventually, the Upper Dolpo trek lasts for 28 days and within these days some of the activities include passing through high mountains and different villages and meeting the locals. There’s no doubt that the local Tibetan families welcomes their guests with open arms.

Hence, you will be attracted towards the vast and the tranquil beauty of Phoksundo Lake. As, summers and monsoons are the best seasons for trekking but winters are avoided because of the heavy snowfall.
